Seeking a Friend for the End of the World - Can’t wait for this one. A little dramedy, Steve Carell in a role that I always enjoy seeing him play (See Crazy, Stupid, Love). Plus appearances by Rob Corddry, Gillian Jacobs and T.J. Miller never hurt something that I have seen.

Hatfields and McCoys: Thanks to the HBO program Deadwood and the Coen Brothers adaptation of True Grit we are witnessing the rebirth of my favorite genre, the Western. Can’t wait for this 3 part series to start next weekend. Great cast, great story.

I wish I could be here right now…

Wes Anderson is back. Hells yeah…

Of Monsters and Men - I have spent the better part of this morning listening to the four track EP by this band and I have really enjoyed it. The single “Little Talks” is the free single available on iTunes right now so hurry and download it if you get the chance. Be sure to sample the rest of the EP if you like the single. I promise you won’t be disappointed. It is a mixture of The Arcade Fire’s collection of family instrumental talent and the soul of Mumford and Sons. If that makes any sense at all. Above is the live in studio version of “Little Talks” that they did for KEXP radio in Seattle back in 2010.

Christmas is Getting in the Way of My Movies

I didn’t get to go to the theatre like I had planned because of Christmas shopping. But I did get to sit down and finally watch Crazy, Stupid, Love. What a great flick that is made for all adult audiences to enjoy. After seeing that and Drive a few months ago I have determined Ryan Gosling is one of the best actors with the widest range of talent working in Hollywood today.

I’m looking forward to seeing many movies over the next two weeks. I am in the car reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo right now. I can only imagine what David Fincher’s vision did with such great material. well I’ll be touching base throughout the holidays and letting you know what I end up seeing.

Most importantly my TCU Horned Frogs play the last game of the season tonight. I hate seeing the football seeing disappearing in the rear view mirror. But that’s what makes the next season so much better to look forward to. Have a great day ladies and gents!

I couldn’t think of a better way to start blogging again than to show the premiere full-length trailer for the The Dark Knight Rises. Now that I am not working at a television station that hinders my ability to see the films that I want to see, there is a sense of freedom that I have gained as well. I will be going to film school (that’s right an actual film school) starting January 9th at the Art Institute of Dallas. I am so excited that my primary focus will be one movies all day everyday. The dork in me can do nothing but rejoice. I am so ready for this late great chapter in my life. That is all I have to say about that.

As far as this movie trailer goes I am for the most part impressed. They are still working on some CGI (computer graphics) so I won’t get technical. The things that stood out to me was the overall look of Tom Hardy as Bane and Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle (Catwoman). She is especially sinister in this trailer which is the side to the character that I always enjoyed. Count on hearing a lot more from me when it comes to movies in 2012. I plan on going to see Michael Fassbender in Shame or Charlize Theron in Young Adult tonight. I will let you know what I see and what I thought tomorrow. Glad to be back!
